Package Overview

Six dives. Your pace, your mix.

Six dives across multiple days is where Open Water divers go from tentative to competent. By dive four or five, buoyancy is settled, air consumption is down, and you are covering more ground. The guide tracks your progression and adjusts site selection accordingly. Malta has enough variety at Open Water depths to keep six dives genuinely varied across the week.

  • Six guided dives across your stay at Open Water depths
  • Guide adjusts site selection to match your progression
  • Full equipment every session
  • Wrecks, reefs, and arches all accessible at OW cert level
  • Air consumption typically improves by dive four or five
  • Any OW certified diver welcome

Six dives. Your pace, your mix.

Six dives with Advanced Open Water certification covers serious ground in Malta. The guide maps out the week across site categories: wrecks, walls, and reef systems. Six dives gives enough surface interval time between sessions to include deeper profiles without compressing the schedule.

  • Full wreck access including P29 and MV Karwela off Ghajnsielem
  • Um El Faroud exterior and outer hull within depth range
  • Wall and reef dives sequenced across the week
  • Deeper profiles scheduled early in the week for clear surface intervals

You are diving to 18m. Advanced Open Water takes you to 30m and opens Malta's best wrecks.

The P29 patrol boat, MV Karwela off Ghajnsielem, and the Um El Faroud outer hull at 35m are all out of reach on an Open Water card. The SSI Advanced Open Water course at diveshack takes 2 days and is completable within your dive week.

Four days. Three specialties. Full access to Malta's overhead environments.

The diveshack Triple Specialty bundle combines Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Nitrox in four days. Wreck Diver certification opens full penetration on Um El Faroud and the P29 deep sections. Deep Diver pushes your depth limit and unlocks the Blue Hole wall in full.

Extend your tec range. diveshack runs the full SSI XR course pathway in Malta.

The XR progression at diveshack runs from Extended Range through Hypoxic Trimix. Combine course training dives with dive packages and log cert dives on real Malta sites.

What to Expect

Malta is diveable year-round. The Mediterranean's enclosed geography means no significant swell for most of the year, and water clarity is consistently excellent. Summer months bring glass-flat conditions and 24–27°C water. Winter diving is popular with experienced divers who appreciate empty sites and 20–25m visibility.

Current

Generally light. Some northern sites see mild current at the arch. Always manageable with guide planning.

Best time

May through October. Peak summer gives the warmest water and flattest conditions. Book ahead in July and August.

Visibility

Among the best in the Mediterranean. Average 22–32m depending on season. Harbour sites slightly less than open coast.
