Built for the worst conditions. Works everywhere.

The JJ-CCR was designed by professional wreck divers for the deep, cold, low-visibility waters of the Baltic Sea. That origin shows in everything: the housing, the build quality, the maintenance philosophy. It does not break. When it needs attention, you fix it yourself.

The minimalistic design keeps the system accessible. The axial sofnolime canister is user-repackable, meaning you never need to send the unit away between dives. The electronics are reliable and the Shearwater integration means your decompression data lives in a computer you already know and trust.

Back-mounted counter lungs keep your front profile clean, which matters when navigating wrecks, overhead environments, or anything with restricted passage.

  • Aluminium housing accepts up to 4 diving tanks (2–12L) with standard belts
  • User-repackable axial sofnolime canister: no depot required between dives
  • Back-mounted counter lungs: unobstructed front profile
  • Integrated ADV (Automatic Diluent Valve) for buoyancy management
  • Redundant power supply: controller, HUD, and solenoid each independently powered
  • Shearwater multi-gas decompression computer integrated as standard

Key Features

What makes it the 4×4 of rebreathers

Three areas define the JJ-CCR's reputation: the build, the gas management system, and the electronics. Each is designed for real-world technical diving, not just confined water.

Build

Durability and Construction

Aluminium · Stainless steel · Field-maintainable
  • Highly robust aluminium housing built for cold, demanding conditions
  • Stainless-steel stand provides balanced comfort on land
  • Integrated handle for easy transport and handling on the boat
  • User-repackable axial sofnolime canister: simple, fast, no depot required
  • Heavy-duty components throughout, consistent with commercial dive gear standards
Gas Management

Gas System and Loop Control

ADV · DSV · Manual overrides · Up to 4 tanks
  • Integrated ADV (Automatic Diluent Valve): maintains loop volume automatically
  • DSV (Dive Surface Valve) for controlled loop isolation at the surface
  • Manual oxygen supply valve with option to feed external gas
  • Manual diluent supply valve with external gas option (CE standard, Intl. optional)
  • Accepts up to 4 diving tanks (2–12L) via conventional tank belts
Electronics

Safety Electronics and Monitoring

Shearwater · HUD · Triple O₂ sensors · Redundant power
  • Independent digital HUD displays real-time PPO₂ for all three oxygen sensors
  • Integrated Shearwater multi-gas decompression computer as standard
  • Redundant power: one battery for the controller, one for HUD, two parallel for the solenoid
  • No batteries integrated into the loop, reducing single-point failure risk
  • Reliable controller design with straightforward electronics maintenance

FAQ

Common questions

The unit ships complete with the aluminium housing, stainless-steel stand, integrated handle, back-mounted counter lungs, wings, harness, sofnolime canister, ADV, DSV, all valves and hoses, the Shearwater decompression computer, digital HUD, and the full electronics package with redundant power supplies. Sofnolime (the CO₂ absorbent) is a consumable and is purchased separately. Contact us for current pricing on sofnolime supply in Malta.
Yes. TDI requires unit-specific certification before diving a CCR. The JJ-CCR MOD 1 is the entry-level qualification for this unit and covers unit assembly, operation, gas management, electronics, and emergency procedures. Most dive operators and liveaboards will require proof of certification before allowing CCR diving. We can arrange the unit purchase and MOD 1 training together, and you can train on your own unit from day one of the course.
The CE edition (European Conformity) includes the manual diluent supply valve as standard. This valve allows you to add diluent gas manually in addition to the automatic ADV function. The International edition includes this as an optional upgrade. Both editions use the same core platform, electronics, and gas management architecture. Most units sold in Europe are CE edition and this is typically what we would supply.
Yes. The most practical approach is to enrol in the TDI JJ-CCR MOD 1 course using a rental unit. The course runs over 5–6 days and gives you a thorough, instructor-supervised evaluation of the unit in confined water and open water conditions before committing to purchase. If you decide to buy after completing the course, we can assist with sourcing the unit and you may be eligible for the bundle pricing. Contact us to discuss options.
The sofnolime scrubber canister is user-repackable and needs to be repacked before each dive session, using the dive time guidelines in the JJ-CCR manual. Battery condition should be checked before each dive. Full service intervals and procedures are documented in the JJ-CCR manual. diveshack can advise on service centres for Malta-based owners, and the unit's straightforward design means many routine maintenance tasks can be completed by the diver without specialist tools.
