Biology
Feeds on colonial sea squirts and encrusting invertebrates, extending its radula to rasp tissue from compound ascidian colonies on rocky overhangs.
Ascidian feederFemales brood egg capsules beneath their body on the substrate, guarding them until the juveniles hatch as miniature crawling snails with no planktonic stage.
Egg brooderExtends its fleshy mantle over the shell to maintain the glossy surface and blend with surrounding rock. When disturbed, it retracts rapidly into its smooth, hard shell.
