Lee began diving at 15 and has spent the decades since accumulating one of the most extensive qualification portfolios in the industry. He qualified as a PADI Instructor in 1997 and a PADI Course Director in 2005. That same year he also achieved his DSAT Technical Instructor Trainer rating. He has since become an Instructor Trainer with both RAID and SSI, an SSI XR Instructor at all levels, and holds a TDI CCR Mod 3 Advanced Mix Gas Instructor rating on the JJ unit. With over 22,000 logged dives, Lee has trained more than 5,000 recreational divers and over 1,000 dive instructors, and specialises in the waters around the Maltese Islands.
Francesca holds a degree in Physical Education and brings a structured approach to movement and aquatic skills that translates directly into dive instruction. Her background in competitive swimming gave her a foundation in water confidence that she now passes on to students at every level. At diveshack, Francesca leads both recreational courses and assists with instructor-level training, with a particular focus on building solid foundational technique from the first session.
Marcel studied Marine Sciences before making the move into professional diving. With nine years of diving experience and teaching stints across Spain and Mozambique, he brings a breadth of dive environments to his instruction that most instructors never encounter. His scientific grounding means students get more than a course checklist: Marcel explains the marine world they are diving through, making every session a more complete experience.
Aoiffe graduated with a Biology degree before pursuing a career in the water. She has worked as a dive professional in Greece and Sri Lanka, building her skills across reef, wreck, and open-water environments before joining the diveshack team in Malta. Her academic background gives her a thorough understanding of the ecosystems students encounter on guided dives, and her calm, methodical teaching style makes her particularly effective with nervous or first-time divers.
Marco took up diving in 2018 and progressed through the certification pathway to Divemaster in a notably focused timeframe. Originally from Germany, he operates fluently in both German and English, which makes him a natural fit for guiding and supporting the large number of German-speaking visitors who dive with diveshack each year. Marco is thorough in his briefings and pays close attention to individual divers throughout every guided dive.
With a degree in Criminology and ten years of diving behind her, this Francesca brings an analytical mindset to every aspect of dive safety and planning. She is currently working towards her technical diver ratings, motivated by the wreck diving opportunities Malta offers at depth. At diveshack, she works across guided dives and recreational instruction, with a detail-focused approach to dive briefings that students consistently find reassuring.
Vinnie holds a degree in Expedition and Ecotourism Management and has five years of diving experience to complement it. Originally from Chile, he brings an expedition mindset to his dive guiding: thorough preparation, clear communication, and a genuine interest in the environments he takes students into. His ecotourism background makes him a natural fit for divers who want to understand what they are seeing as well as simply seeing it.
Every dive briefing, every equipment check, every in-water assessment follows the same standard regardless of who the student is or how experienced they appear. diveshack does not skip steps.
Courses run with small student-to-instructor ratios. Divers get the attention they need to progress with genuine confidence rather than simply completing the minimum required for certification.
All rental equipment is serviced regularly and inspected before every use. Students never dive with gear that has been passed over because it is "good enough for today."
